Pictures from our trip to TN ... not in specific order ... more to come at another time...

On the road to TN ... that's Shawn & Jane's Flex you're seeing

The 'back' porch of the cabin ... this cabin had 3 porches; a deck in the front, a picnic table, grill and swing set

This is the room Clyde & I had on the main level

The living room ... from here you had stunning views of the mountains, the clouds and the valley below

The dining area ... every room has a view

The kitchen ... you enter the cabin from the front of the cabin into this room

Our indoor bear .... there are carvings all through the cabin, done by local artisans

Jane & the girls & Louis

They're in the upper level game room

Louis giving kisses ... he was so good on this trip

Erica with Jane on the porch swing ... we were 4077 feet above sea level and I was scared spitless to even walk out on this porch ... the other porches weren't too bad thankfully

One of the sunsets

Stef playing pool in the game room ... their Papa taught them well

Little Pie turned out to be a pretty good pool player

Louis ... aka Sugar Plum

Me & Fred with Stef & Erica on the back deck

Can you see the double rainbow?

Jane & the girls & the rainbows....
I asked Stef if she remembered what the rainbow meant and she said
"Yeah! God promised He would never flood the earth again, double!"

Me & the girls

Another sunset

A side view of our cabin "Above the Clouds"

and another side view

The way up to the cabin, ours was the last one on the mountain and the way up to it was STEEP ... as in too steep to even consider my walking up to it!

Jane & the girls ... in Gatlinburg

Taken in Gatlinburg

Sunset the last night we were there

This was taken at the TN / N.C. state line ... we were at the very top of the Smoky's
heading to Georgia for Clyde's Army Reunion with Rick & Nancy

Clyde & Rick

Me & Nancy at an entrance to the Appalachian Trail ...
you can walk to Maine from here ... it's only 1972 miles

That's all for now ... I'll post more later ...
We had such a great time with the kids and are so appreciative that they invited us to come along on this trip. This was the longest Clyde & I had been away from home together in almost 43 years of marriage.
Thanks Shawn & Jane! We loved it! Fear & all!

  1. WOW!! How beautiful these pictures were! And I bet they do not even compare to what you saw with your own eyes! I am so happy for you all that you were able to have a family trip together. I hope that you have the opportunity to do it again! The memories the girls will have will be priceless!
